Thanks to all participants, volunteers and sponsors in our Sixth Annual relay event! The rain held off for the entire event, making for very pleasant running weather. Story below; see photos.

Race Report

Oct 2nd, 2005, Gibsons BC: The sixth annual Specialty Subaru Fall Tune-Up Relay was fun for all involved, helped by the fact that the rain held off completely until everything was wrapped up.

Twenty-three teams of four ran and jogged around the 2km loop course in Gibsons Landing. Fastest to complete the 4x2km relay was the family team of B. Nanson, C. Parry, D. Nanson and O. Parry in 38:44, followed by an all-student Langdale team (D. Windsor, M. Moriarty, C. Fyles, I. Miller) in 39:06. Rounding out the top three was the Roberts Creek team "RC Racers" (S. Garmulewicz, E. Sherwood, D. Farrell, N. Radford).

With 14 teams entered, Langdale was the clear winner of the Elementary School Challenge for the fourth consecutive year, winning $300 for sports equipment and a large trophy.

Too old this year for the shorter race, Stuart and Connor Richey joined Shaun Stephens-Whale and Jonathan Garmulewicz in the 4x4km division this year and continued their winning ways with a 1:07:01 clocking for first team overall. A mixed team, "Licketie-Split" from Burnaby, was a distant second in 1:20:13.

The Tot's Trot saw close to 20 pre-schoolers enjoying a fun run around the park for a medal and a prize.

Following the awards ceremony came the moment everyone was waiting for: the Mountain Bike draw (courtesy of Specialty Subaru). Lucky winner was Michael Li of Langdale. Many other draw prizes were given away, thanks to the generosity of the event sponsors, especially Trail Bay Source for Sports.
