The Fall Tune-Up is just one of many athletic events on the Sunshine Coast. For those of you who live here or just enjoy visiting, we have compiled this calendar of races for your convenience. 

If you know of any runs, triathlons, bike races, etc. that are not listed here, please let us know about them. Please include event name, location, date, and contact info. 

Race directors, send us your entry form (PDF or HTML) if your event does not have a website, and we'll post it here.

All information listed here is subject to change. The Fall Tune-Up organizers are not responsible for any errors.

  • April Fool's Run - photo by Duane Robert BurnettApril 5, 2009: With its 31-year history, the Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run is a Coast tradition. Run a Half-Marathon from Gibsons to Sechelt: do the whole distance or join a 2- or 4-person relay.   • May 31-June 1, 2008: Tune up your mountain bike for the Rat Race 2, held on the popular trails of the Sunshine Coast in Roberts Creek. www.ratrace2.com
  • Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life - photo by Duane Robert BurnettMay 2008: Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life: A non-competitive overnight relay celebrating cancer survivors and hope, to raise money for the CCS. Teams of 10-12 people take turns walking, strolling or running around the track at Roberts Creek Elementary. Includes Celebrating Children of Courage 5 km run, Survivors' Victory Lap, Luminary Ceremony, live entertainment, meals and much more.   • July 1, 2008: The 3rd annual Sechelt Canada Day Mile is taking place in downtown Sechelt before the parade. Information at www.foolsrun.com/mile/.
  • July 2008: join thousands of other paddlers from as far away as Hawaii at the annual Howe Sound Outrigger Races, in Gibsons. The largest paddling event of its kind in Canada, this event is touted as one of the top 10 outrigger races in the world.   • Photo by T. NightingaleJuly 13, 2008: Take in a traditional community event by running the Halfmoon Bay Trophy Run. Pleasant rolling but net downhill 3.5-mile route starts at Connor Park and ends at the Halfmoon Bay Country Fair in Cooper's Green—entry is free! Bring the whole family and enjoy the Fair afterwards, with food, volleyball, kids games, music and local artisans. Race starts at 10:30am; sign up before 10:00am at Connor Park (near HMB Elementary).
  • Photo by Ian Jacques / Coast ReporterJuly 26, 2008: 6th annual Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Mile. In conjunction with the Sea Cavalcade festival, this is a 1 mile road race in Upper Gibsons, right before the parade. Fast, straight, slightly downhill course! Very low entry fee. Great for all ages.   • August 24, 2008: Four Lakes 10k in beautiful Garden Bay. Starts and finishes at Katherine Lake Park and passes by 3 other lakes on a very scenic out and back course. Great facilities at start/finish area: swimming lake, showers, covered area. 2008 was the first annual edition of this race.   • Photo by T. NightingaleSeptember 7, 2008: Iron Kids Triathlon is fun and fitness for the younger set—not to be missed! Individual or Relay in a number of youth age categories.   • September 14, 2008: Terry Fox Run in Gibsons (at Cross-Trainers) and Roberts Creek (at the school). 9:30am start.

NightingaleOctober 12, 2008: Run one of the most scenic point-to-point courses anywhere in the Youth Violence Awareness 8.5k Run, in Garden Bay (Pender Harbour). 10:00am start time, finishes at Pender Harbour Pool (at the high school).
