Race Date

The 2012 race is set for Saturday, October 6th.

Schedule

Later races may start slightly earlier or later than scheduled.

  • 10:00am - Age 6-8, 1.3km / Age 5&U (FREE), 400m
  • 10:15am - Ages 9-10 and 11-12, 2.6km
  • 10:40am - Ages 13-14 and 15-17, 3.9km
  • 11:15am - Ages 18+ (Junior/Open/Masters), 6km

Course

Start/Finish at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park, Sechelt. First race starts at 10:00 am. Starting and finishing on grass, the route consists of various length loops through the park's trails and campground roads (gravel/dirt), depending on the age group: 400m up to 6km (see divisions below). Spikes not recommended. Gentle ups and downs and flat sections, no big hills. Start/finish on grass beside the beach. Spectator-friendly. Course will be clearly marked with signs and cones. Marshals at campsite road crossings.

  • Kids 5&U: 400m small loop (around group camp area) — FREE
  • Kids 6-8: 1 x Loop A = 1.3km
  • Ages 9-12: 2 x Loop A = 2.6km
  • Ages 13-17: 3 x Loop A = 3.9km
  • Ages 18+: 3 x Loop B = 6km

Facilities

Outhouses are available at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. Several large covered areas with tables are available. Plenty of free parking available in the main parking lot. See route maps for location. Water taps will be turned off at this time of year but we will provide water in a cooler. Bring your own reusable water bottle to save cups and the environment.

Refreshments

Hot and cold beverages and snacks will be available to all participants after the event. Home baked goodies!

Results

Upon completion of the races each finisher will be given a Popsicle stick with their finishing position written on it — you must bring your stick to the results area (under the gazebo) where your name will be recorded.

Results will be displayed following the event, available on this website no later than Monday following the event, and printed in the next week's edition of the Coast Reporter.

Categories, Awards & Prizes

Awards and draw prizes will be presented at the park following the races. Awards to top 3 males and females in each division (where depth warrants). Ribbons to all participants in the kids fun run (age 8 and under).

Age Categories (age on race day):
  • Kids age 5 and under and 6-8 - fun run only, not timed, every finisher gets a ribbon (400m and 1.3km, respectively)
  • Junior Development: age 9-10 (2.6km)
  • Junior Development: age 11-12 (2.6km)
  • Junior Development: age 13-14 (3.9km)
  • Youth/Juvenile: age 15-17 (3.9km)
  • Junior: age 18-19 (6km)
  • Open: age 20-39 (6km)
  • Masters 40+: 5 year age groups to 70+ (6km)
